Team Birdie Brigade Goes Back-To-Back With Another U.S. Hackers Open Title

Under clear skies and perfect conditions at the Callippe Golf Preserve in Pleasanton, CA, the PGAHT U.S. Hackers Open Championship saw Team Birdie Brigade claim back-to-back USHO titles in impressive fashion. With the course in immaculate shape, the Brigade put on a golf clinic, showcasing their blend of power, precision, and finesse.

Starting strong, Birdie Brigade opened with a flurry of birdies on holes 1, 2, and 3, followed by another streak on holes 5, 6, 7, and 8, putting them at an impressive -7 at the turn. Their momentum continued into the back nine with pars on holes 10 and 11, before unleashing another wave of birdies on holes 12, 13, 14, and 15. Brady Clark’s powerful drives set up short approach shots, while Chris Nunes and Daniel Lucero's steady putting sealed the victory with a dominant display.

Team Nunes finished as the runner-up, posting a commendable -7. John Nunes, a key member of the Birdie Brigade, temporarily joined forces with Tony Mendoza, Robert Holmes, and Chris Hogan for this championship. Utilizing their length off the tee, Nunes and Mendoza set up strong scoring opportunities, while Holmes and Hogan's precise putting kept them in contention. After birdies on holes 3, 5, and 7 brought them to -3 at the turn, they continued their charge with birdies on holes 10, 12, 13, and 15. Although their birdie run ended, crucial par saves on holes 16 and 18 secured their second-place finish.

Team Dolojan, featuring Eric Dolojan, Troy Marquez, and Steve Peralta, claimed third place with a fast start of their own. They notched birdies on holes 1, 3, 5, 7, and 8 to reach -5 at the turn. Additional birdies on holes 12 and 16 kept them tied with Team Nunes at -7, but a costly bogey on hole 17 ultimately dropped them to third place..

The tour now heads to Hercules, CA, for the Tour Championship at Franklin Canyon Golf Course, where more thrilling golf action and fierce competition await.
