And The Beat Goes On; It's Team Birdie Brigade Once Again

For the first time in the history of the PGAHT, The Travelers, a tour golfing event, was held in Yolo County at the Wildhorse Golf Club in Davis, CA. On a warm day with the course in pristine condition, the PGAHT successfully produced another incredible day of golf, fellowship, and introduced four new players to our group.

Once The Travelers began, it became clear that The Birdie Brigade was the team to beat. Led by Brady Clark, with his powerful drives and impeccable short game, and the exceptional putting of John and Greg Nunes, the team showcased an outstanding performance. The Brigade capitalized on the shorter course, scoring birdies on holes 2, 4, 5, 7, 8, 9, 13, 14, 16, 17, and an eagle on 11, driving the green on multiple par 4s and reaching the green in two on several par 5s. This remarkable play resulted in a 12-under-par score.

Team Jarboe also played an impressive round, finishing as runners-up with a score of 9-under. With birdies on holes 2, 3, 6, 10, 13, 16, 17, and an eagle on hole 7, Team Jarboe was just a few missed putts away from claiming the Travelers title on their home course. Richard Morris delivered powerful drives, while Norm Woodard, Tom Jarboe, and Rob Lagomarsino contributed with superb short iron play and flawless putting, making this team poised for a future victory.

Team Cabrera overcame a slow start, beginning with a bogey on hole 1 and a missed birdie putt on hole 2. They quickly turned their game around, scoring birdies on holes 5, 8, 9, 11, 14, 16, and an eagle on hole 17, finishing at a respectable 7-under. Tony Mendoza, Gerald Cabrera, and Robert Holmes demonstrated true grit, taking it one shot at a time from hole 3 onwards, showing long drives, great approach shots, and incredible putting to remain competitive.

Finishing in 4th place were the newcomers, Team DJFA, featuring Duffy, Jerry, Fugi, and Art, with a score of 3-under. Although they began their round with a bogey on hole 1, a birdie at the challenging par-3 6th hole set a positive tone for the rest of their game. They also birdied holes 8, 11, and 16. We look forward to their participation in future events.

Once again, the PGAHT delivered a memorable day of golf. As we prepare for our August event at the Blue Rock Springs Golf Club in Vallejo, CA, we look forward to creating more memories, making new friends, and enjoying the camaraderie that only golf can bring.
