Newcomer Huang Dominates as Field Endures the Heat

In scorching conditions, PGAHT newcomer Johnny Huang delivered a commanding performance, securing his first PGAHT title with an impressive 6-stroke victory. Huang started strong with five pars on the front 9 and capped off his round with a birdie on the 18th, finishing with a stellar 91 at 11-under par, a remarkable 5 strokes ahead of his closest competitor. Both Jimmy Huang and Gino Susim acknowledged that this was a standout round for Johnny, who will now be closely watched at the upcoming U.S. Hackers Open. Congratulations to Johnny Huang, who now has a target on his back.

Meanwhile, Mike Hubner showed that he's ready to contend for titles, displaying his trademark consistency with a solid 5-under par 96. Hubner had a slow start on the front 9 with a score of 52, but found his rhythm on the back 9, finishing with an impressive 44 strokes. Hubner also won the second 6-hole turn with a score of 29, and with his consistent play, it's likely that he'll be vying for his first PGAHT title soon.

In a repeat performance, Robert Holmes secured a third-place finish for the second time in a row. Holmes had a strong start with a score of 33 on the first six holes, but encountered some struggles on the front 9, finishing with a disappointing 52, including a challenging ninth hole. Despite this, Holmes rallied with a remarkable 4-under round of 104, making key shots including a brilliant tee shot on the par-3 13th and a stellar approach on the 14th, both resulting in pars. Holmes attributed his improvement to playing with more patience and opting for his Snake Eyes Quick Strike Hybrid over his driver. His sponsors at Callaway Golf expressed satisfaction with his performance, stating, "We're extremely pleased with how Robert is playing now! Our three years of patience has paid off. We know our HX-Hot and Big Bertha golf balls are a big part of his success. Now if we can just get him a Hyper-X or FTI driver..."

In a remarkable display of skill and determination, Ralph Gonzalez made a splash in his PGAHT debut, shooting a stellar 3-under round of 85 to claim a respectable fourth place finish. Gonzalez showcased his talent with five pars on the back-9, finishing with a solid 41. With this impressive performance, Gonzalez is expected to continue making waves in the tournament circuit and could soon be a contender for his first title. Congratulations, Ralph!

Gino Susim also had a strong showing, firing a 3-under par round of 86, securing his second consecutive fourth place finish. Susim displayed consistent and steady play throughout the round, recording six pars and avoiding any major setbacks. When asked about his goals for the season, Susim expressed his desire to maintain his consistent play and stay near the top of the leaderboard as he looks ahead to the next two events. "I really want to win the FedEx Cup!" Susim stated, highlighting his ambitions for the season. His sponsors at Nike, Ping, and Bobby Jones golf added, "We'd love to see Gino win the FedEx Cup, but also pick up a few titles along the way!"

Other notable performances in the top-10 included Steve Hom and newcomer Jimmy Huang, who each shot 1-under par to tie for 6th place. Wayne Validum posted an even par 98, earning him 8th place, while James Lopez finished 2-over par for 9th place. Ted Saguindel and Mario Gonzalez tied for 10th place, both shooting 3-over par. The competition remains fierce as these skilled golfers continue to showcase their talents on the PGAHT tour.
