A Masterful Performance by Saguindel

Ted Saguindel, after a few of what he would call "B-level" performances the past couple of tournaments, brought his "A-game" to the forefront on the biggest day of the tour - The Masters of Hack. Pushed by his playing partner Eric Dolojan, Saguindel displayed remarkable skill, recording six pars, one birdie on the par-4 second hole, and eleven bogeys, ultimately finishing 7-under par (81) and claiming the coveted title of Masters of Hack champion. Adding to his success, Saguindel also won his side match when Dolojan narrowly missed a par putt on the 18th hole. Grinning ear to ear, Saguindel accepted the Masters of Hack trophy, marking his second title after winning last year's Shootout@Rio Vista. The victory was one he won't soon forget.

Saguindel's triumph at The Masters of Hack sets him up for the next challenge - joining the traditional Champions Pairing next month at The Memorial. Both his sponsors, Callaway Golf and Adidas, were eager to take credit for his win, with the Adidas representative jokingly adding, "Our shoes have helped make Ted a great player, but if he adds our expensive shirts to the mix, there may be no stopping him!" It's clear that Saguindel's sponsors are proud to back a winner.

Meanwhile, Bobby Boyd showcased another impressive performance, finishing in 2nd place with a 6-under 106 on the field. Despite a previous misjudgment of not playing pro at The Greater Brentwood Classic, Boyd tightened up his game and showed great improvement in his second year as a pro. Despite facing challenges on holes 7 and 8, Boyd recovered and even managed a par on the challenging par-3 15th hole. It's clear that Boyd won't be able to fly under the radar anymore, but with his continued dedication to improving his game, he's sure to make his mark in the field.

Eric Dolojan also made a statement with a remarkable 5-under round of 82, securing a 3rd place finish. Matching Saguindel shot for shot throughout the day, including a birdie on the par-4 2nd hole, Dolojan's chances for victory were marred by a triple on the challenging par-5 10th hole. Nevertheless, he showcased brilliant play with four consecutive pars on holes 12-16, and he's determined to win his first title at the Memorial next month. If Dolojan continues to perform at the level he did on Sunday, it won't be long before he claims his first championship title.

Johnny Huang, a two-time champion, showcased his skills once again despite a challenging start. After a disappointing front nine with a score of 48, Huang rallied on the back nine with a birdie on the par-5 16th, finishing with a 3-under round of 92 and securing 4th place. Remarkably, this was the first time Huang didn't clinch the top spot on the tour. Huang's consistent performance and competitive spirit have proven that he will always be a contender in any event he participates in. He will be joining Ted Saguindel and Eric Alejandro in the prestigious "champions pairing" at The Memorial next month, and fans can expect him to bring his A-game and contend for another title.

Steve Hom, who had a slow start to the 2009 season, made a triumphant return to the top of the leader board. Despite struggling initially and finishing the front nine with a score of 47, Hom fought his way back with a solid 1-under round of 89, including an impressive 5 pars on the back nine, earning him a respectable 5th place finish. Hom's consistent performance and unwavering determination make him one of the best players on tour. As the defending champion at the upcoming 2009 Memorial, Hom will look to defend his title and potentially achieve a breakout performance. Congratulations to Steve on his impressive showing!

Despite struggling with inconsistency off the tee throughout the day, Gino Susim unleashed a monstrous 312-yard drive on the 18th hole, clearing the water and surpassing the "Cart" signs. He followed up with a par on the final hole, showcasing his skills under pressure.

On the other hand, Robert Holmes once again fell short of breaking 100, finishing with a disappointing 8-over par 117. In his defense, his sponsors at Callaway Golf acknowledged that Holmes has been unable to practice and only found his rhythm on the 15th hole. Nonetheless, it was a significant setback for Holmes, as it marked his first finish outside the top-5 this year.
